Excellent Screenplay Awards

Introduction

To elevate the artistic standard of domestic films, the Government Information Office, Executive Yuan asked the Motion Picture Development Foundation of R. O. C to organize “Excellent Screenplay Awards” for the first time in 1976. The aim is to encourage the writing of screenplays and to cultivate the outstanding screenwriting talents and provide excellent screenplays as a blueprint for domestic filmmaking.

Screenplay is the base of a film. A good script could provide insights and depths to a film. Winning this award could serve as a base for further involvement of filmmaking. The past winners like Ang Lee, Wang Shaudi, Wan Jen, Chang Tso-Chi, Lee Youning, Chu Yu-Ning Chen Kuo-Fu, Yee Chin-Yen, Hung Hung, Lee Gang, Chen Yu-Hsun, Cheng Wen-Tang, Kuo Chen-Ti, Wang Ming-Tai, Shu Chao-Bin, Wei Te-Shen, Lin Yu-Hsien And Robin Lee, etc. made films based on their award winning scripts.
